  • First there was the original Sokal hoax. Then there was VS Ramachandran’s Sokal hoax on evolutionary psychology. Now there’s been a wondefrul Sokal hoax on Sophisticated ReligionTM by a Belgian philosopher.
  • Another step backwards in terms of sanity: the UN passes a resolution in favour of “traditional values” over and above gay rights. The resolution is likely to provide cover for even more repressive laws in Russia, and the other states that co-presented it (Angola, Belarus, China, Cuba, North Korea, Ecuador, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan [on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation], Sri Lanka, Syria, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam).
